Herbs as Inflammation Remedies

Herbs are known to have many medical properties and some of them are also believed to have great anti-inflammatory effects.

Thyme Thyme and Thyme Oil. Ancient herb well known to our ancestors that is easy to cultivate and used for a wide variety of things, from cooking to perfume has great anti-inflammatory and other medical properties. Thyme oil with a high content of thymol is an antiseptic and believed to be effective against various fungi. Thyme can be used as dried leaves in cooking, as Thyme oil for medical purpose and it can also be infused as tea. Tinctures and syrups are also made from Thyme and are perfect against respiratory infection if steam inhaled.
Oregano Oregano. Powerful antioxidant used worldwide as spice and medical remedy. Oregano shows potential as antibacterial and antiviral remedy but further studies are needed. Used for centuries in folk medicine it proved to be effective medical remedy and recent studies showed some antibacterial properties.
Mint Mint. Strong scented herb known in Ancient times to cure stomach ache is widely used today as a herb, spice and infused as tea. It is a popular home remedy used for common cold and aromatherapy.
Cinnamon Cinnamon. Studies shown that Cinnamon have antiviral anti-melanoma properties. Used mainly as a spice. A little tip: Apple with Cinnamon as a dessert taste great and have many positive health effects.
Basil Basil. Recent research concluded that Basil has strong antiviral, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Studies even show potential in cancer treatment. It is widely used in Indian folk medicine as a stress, asthma and diabetes remedy. It is very aromatic so it is used as a spice all over the world. French call it ”l’herbe royale”. Pretty self explanatory.
Rosemary Rosemary. Used in Mediterranean for centuries it is believed to improve memory. Studies show that carnosic acid found in Rosemary has a potential to shield the brain from free radicals. Rosemary’s anti-inflammatory properties as well as overall memory enhancements are well proven by scientists in recent years.
Cloves Cloves. This flowering plant is believed to reduce fever and is used as mosquito repellent but further research needs to be done to prove the mentioned properties. One thing is certain. Cloves contain antioxidants and can also be used to relieve dental pain.
